Gamecocks Ranked No. 8, Clemson No. 11 In Final AP Poll

Both schools turned in impressive 11-win seasons

The 2012 football season was one to be remembered in the state of South Carolina. 

Both Clemson and South Carolina turned in 11-win seasons, and both teams won their bowl games, which were considered classics in their own right. 

The Associated Press released its final football poll this week, and both the Tigers and Gamecocks ended well after their strong finishes.

South Carolina (11-2), finished the season ranked No. 8. Clemson (11-2), finished the season ranked No. 11. 

South Carolina edged Michigan in the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day, while the night before, Clemson upset LSU in the Chick-Fil-A Bowl by a last-second field goal.

Alabama, fresh off its stomping of then-top-ranked Notre Dame on Monday, finished the season ranked No. 1. The Southeastern conference has now placed a team at the top of the final AP poll seven straight years.
