GCSO Asking For Public's Help In Forgery Case

Unidentified tried to pass a forged check a local Bi-Lo.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who tried to pass a bad check to a local grocery store, and may have been trying to do so at other locations across the county. 

At about 6 p.m. Monday, a man tried to cash a payroll check at the Bi-Lo on 3220 West Blue Ridge Drive near White Hose Road. The employee dealing with the subject became suspicious of his identification, and went to the manager on duty for guidance. 

But before the employee could return to the counter, the man had already exited the store.

The check turned out to be forged, as well as the man's identification. 

According to the GCSO, the subject may have also made attempts to cash similar checks at other local BI-LO stores.

Investigators obtained photographs from the BI-LO video surveillance system of the subject.  The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the subject in the photos.  Those with information regarding the subject or the incident are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
