Get Out & Go: Jamboree, Ferris Wheel, Dragway and More

Whether you're planning date night or pizza night, we've got the goods on what's happening in and around Greer and Taylors.

A Black History Gala, sponsored by the Village Hospital, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Cannon Centre. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased by Tickets for the gala are $5 each and are available by contacting Greer City Councilman Wayne Griffin at wgriffin@cityofgreer.org or at 879-2617.

Several area teams are playing Saturday in the JL Mann Jamboree. Here's what we know: Riverside plays Blue Ridge at 6:30 p.m. at J.L. Mann Jamboree; Greer plays Mauldin at 7:30 p.m. at J.L. Mann Jamboree. Admission is $5. 

It's not time for the fair, but it's a quick drive to Spartanburg to take a ride on the Ferris Wheel this weekend. Rides are $5 for adults and $3 for kids.

Greenville Drive will play Lexington Legends this weekend at Fluor Field. Check the team’s website for more information.

Let's go racin.' Greer Dragway opens at noon Saturday for the International Hot Rod Association Super Series Bracket Race. 

Visit the Greer Heritage Museum. The museum is open each Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

See the stars Friday night at Roper Mountain Science Center. Planetarium shows are held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. each Friday. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for children 4 and up, $4 for seniors.

Have some shopping to do? How about enjoying the tunes of Mack McCloud at Shops at Greenridge Summer Concert Series  from 7 to 10 p.m.
