An early morning wreck resulted in the death of a 21-year-old Greer man near his home.

A 21-year-old man who had just finished a night on the town with his friends died early Monday morning when he lost control of his vehicle while driving back to his Greer home.Â
Deputy Coroner Kent Dill said Stephen Kottke, who resided 4640 Jug Factory Road, had spent Sunday night in downtown Greenville with his friends, and that he was on the way back to his home when the accident occurred.Â
Dill said Kottke, who moved to Greer from New Hampshire in August, lost control of his 1996 GMC SUV, running off the side of the road and flipping the vehicle. Kottke, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene of blunt force trauma after he was ejected from the SUV. The incident occurred on the same block of Jug Factory Road as the one the victim lived on, Dill said.Â

Dill told to Patch the coroner's office was investigating whether or not Kottke had been drinking and whether or not the alcohol consumption could have contributed to the accident. He said he could not definitively confirm the role of alcohol until results from toxicology were returned.Â
