The Greer Touchdown Club is gearing up for another season of supporting area football.
Its mission is to promote football in the Greer area, specifically to promote the area high school teams, Blue Ridge, Byrnes, Eastside, Greer, and Riverside.
Club officials recently announced the speakers for the first five meetings.
The area's Head Football Coaches – Blue Ridge's Shane Clark, Byrnes' Bobby Bently, Eastside's Jeff Thomason, Greer's Will Young and Riverside's Phillip Smith – will speak at the August 29th meeting.
On September 5, Jason Gilmer, author of “Where Champions Play,” will be the speaker. Clemson SportsTalk Host Lawton Swann will speak to the club on September 12.
Southern Conferencer Commissioner John Iamarino is the speaker on September 19.
On September 26, Lee Timms III, Editor of Upstate Gameday Magazine, will speak to the club.
The Greer Touchdown Club meets in the gymnasium of Greer First Baptist Church. Weekly meetings begin at 12pm, and the lunch line opens at 11:45am.
Meetings usually last an hour.
Lunches are catered by The Clock Restaurant and cost $8 for members and $10 for guests. All are welcome.
Each meeting honors an Offensive & Defensive Player of the Week. The five area Head Coaches usually attend the club meetings and talk to members about the previous week's game and the upcoming game. The club runs a weekly “Pick'em Contest” that features weekly and year-end prizes.
Greer Touchdown Club memberships are $30 per year and can be purchased at any of the weekly meetings. To learn more about the club, visit http://www.yellowjacketsports.net/GreerTouchdownClub.html
