Holiday Safety Tips From The GCSO

The Sheriff's Office is offering some basic safety tips for the holiday season.

With the holidays again upon us, The Greenville County Sheriff's Office is providing basic holiday safety tips:

Shopping Safety:

- Shop with a friend or group. The bigger the group, the safer you are.

- Lock all vehicle doors before entering a store or shopping center.

- Park your vehicle in well lit areas; especially if shopping during evening hours.

- Keep all packages in an enclosed trunk space that can be locked. 

- Leave personal documents such as social security cards and birth certificates in a safe place at home versus in your purse or wallet.

 

Travel Safety:

- Keep lights on in your home while you are away during the holidays.

- Turn on your security system, if you have one installed in your home.

- Tell your neighbors you are going to be gone and that no one should be in your home.

- Stop your mail and newspaper delivery or have a neighbor collect these items for you while you are away.

- Check all windows and doors to make sure they are locked before leaving home.
