I'm Not 40, I'm Fabulous
Forty is the new 20, at least that's what I'm telling myself.

Last Friday, I hit the big 4-0.
People kept telling me it was just a number and not to sweat the small stuff. But still, it pained me to think I would soon have to say I'm 40.
Honestly, I think 30 was much worse. Maybe I've matured in the last 10 years or perhaps, I just prepared myself a little better for the inevitable.
As people were making their New Year's resolutions in late December, I was making a "pact" with myself to be fabulous and 40 this year.
I've concentrated on the four F's since January: fitness, family, fun and focus on me. And it's worked.
While I'm not rocking the bikini body I'd hoped for, I'm pretty close and more determined than ever.Â
I've pampered myself this year and that's a good thing to do, at least once in a while! Who knew that a facial and hand massage could change your whole outlook on a bad day.Â
I've tried to look for fun things to do with friends and family. Concerts, day trips, family game night or just a day hanging out with my 7-year-old son in our pajamas. Because when it's all said and done, all work and no play makes me a pretty dull person.
As far as family, even that's changed for me. A little over two weeks ago, my best friend asked me to marry him. We are still working on setting a wedding date, deciding where to live, etc. But in the end, I'll gain two grown sons and a grandson (yeah, try wrapping your head around that when you're newly 40).
Forty is the new 20, at least that's what I'm telling myself. So if you're of a different opinion I'd appreciate you keeping it to yourself!
