Investigators: No Evidence Slain Driver Was Doing Anything Illegal

Investigation ongoing into the shooting death of Ledrekius Sloan.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office isn't commenting on whether or not charges are imminent against the security guard who shot a man in his vehicle in the parking lot of a Greenville hotel. 

Mike Hildebrand of the GCSO said there was no evidence uncovered Wednesdsay that Ledrekius Sloan was engaged in illegal activity at the time he was shot to death. 

"We have no information that would tell us illegal activity was suspected," Hildebrand said.

Sloan, 28, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest at the Savannah Suites at 2015 Wade Hampton Boulevard after deputies were called to the scene at 10:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:18 p.m. 

The investigation is ongoing.
