Law Student Running For District 17 House Seat

A third-year juris doctor candidate at the University of South Carolina is running for the S.C. House District 17 seat vacated by Tom Corbin. Â
Roy Harmon, 28, a lifelong resident of Greenville County, will hold a press conference at The Forest Coffeehouse in Travelers Rest at 10 a.m. on Nov. 27 to officially announce his intentions to run for the seat.Â
Corbin was elected to both the House and Senate seats in the general election on Nov. 6, resigning his House seat on Nov. 12.Â

Filing for the House seat begins Nov. 30 and closes Dec. 10, according to the State Election Commission. Primaries will be Jan. 22, with runoffs, if needed, set for Feb. 5. The special election will be March 12.

"Harmon is seeking election to House District 17 because he believes northern Greenville County will benefit from a fresh perspective in Columbia. If elected, he plans to develop and implement conservative reforms that will make state government more efficient, open, and accessible to the citizens of South Carolina."
