“The City constantly monitors the service provided to our citizens through any and all contracted parties. The rate that is paid by our citizens are set contractually and cannot arbitrarily be changed by a contractor,” Merriman said. “We look forward to working with Meridian throughout the remaining term of the contract with the City.”
Former Ace Environmental owner Steve Serafino met with Merriman and Deputy City Administrator Mike Sell Tuesday morning to discuss the transition.

The acquired assets from Ace Environmental Holdings include the City of Greer Recycling Center located at 315 Buncombe St. which will serve as the primary hauling company for Meridian Waste, housing the rolling stock and administrative functions of the combined companies.
Serafino and his employees transitioned to the Meridian Waste team upon closing of the acquisition.
“The decision to join with the team at Meridian Waste was a natural fit for Ace Environmental,” Serafino said. “(Meridian CEO Walter Hall) and his leadership group have a proven track record of success within the garbage industry. They are focused on issues that matter most including strategic growth, quality service delivery, a strong environmental record, and safe operations,” he said.
The City of Greer signed a four-year contract extension with Ace Environmental in June of 2018.
