Taylors Locations Seek Annexation Into Sanitation District
Greenville County Council to consider adding multiple locations in the county into its service area for sanitation.

Greenville County Council is considering a resolution that would provide its sanitation services to certain properties on nine different areas of Greenville County, including multiple Taylors locations.Â
A resolution was introduced Tuesday night during the Greenville County Council to annex certain properties on Mountain Creek Road, Piedmont Grove Park and East Warehouse Court in the Taylors-Wade Hampton area into the Greenville County Sanitation District. Other locations in Greenville and Piedmont are also among those being considered for annexation.Â
The resolution will go before a subcommittee before it is formally introduced for a first reading, but it already has at least one detractor in Ed Paxton, who said he was totally against the district receiving any more money until it does a better job of providing more consistent service to the areas where it already provides it. The locations, should they be annexed into the district, will essentially pay a tax to get the services.Â

Butch Kirven, chairman of the council, took up for the district.Â
"Most accounts we receive in what is a very competitive situation is that they provide very good service to the citizens receiving it," Kirven said.Â

Councilman Bob Taylor reminded council that the reason the annexations were up for consideration was that the owners of the properties in question had specifically asked to be folded into the the district.Â
