Thanksgiving Trip Turns Sour for One Mom and Her Child

Connecticut woman arrested on her way to Simpsonville by Spartanburg authorities was reportedly disorderly and under the influence of drugs.

Spartanburg County Sheriff's deputies on Thanksgiving Day arrested a Connecticut woman who was on her way to Simpsonville after she reportedly became belligerent with them in front of her 5-year-old child, WSPA reported.

Tanya Marie Sypher of Norwich, Conn., was charged with public disorderly conduct after she was arrested around 3 p.m. Sypher was driving from Connecticut to Simpsonville to spend Thanksgiving with family, the station reported.

Deputies were alerted to Sypher after reports that she was passed out in her car with her young son.

Sypher, who has been released on bond, appeared to be under the influence of unspecified drugs, and became erratic and aggressive with deputies, at one point trying to kick out the windows of a deputy's patrol car, the station reported.

The young child reportedly was placed into DSS custody until his father authorized the boy be placed in the care of a Simpsonville family member.
