Tommy Lasorda Suffers Mild Heart Attack Monday

Lasorda is married to Greenville native Joan "Jo" Miller Lasorda.

Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda suffered a mild heart attack Monday evening during the MLB draft.

Lasorda, who was participating in the draft as a representative for the Los Angeles Dodgers, fell ill during the meeting and thought he might have been suffering from food poisoning, according to an article in USA Today.

Lasorda, whose wife is a Greenville, S.C. native, is recuperating in a New York hospital and is expected to be released Wednesday.

"The doctors confirmed I do bleed Dodger Blue. I'm looking forward to being back at the stadium to cheer on the Dodgers," Lasorda said in a statement released to the media.

Lasorda is married to Joan "Jo" Miller Lasorda, who is a graduate of Greenville High School. The couple was married on April 15, 1950, after having met at a Greenville Spinners game.
