Upstate Student's Threat Marks Second Incident In A Month

A 17-year-old student at Byrnes High School is accused of making threats to shoot students.

For the second time in a month, a student at an Upstate high school is in trouble for threatening to shoot students, WSPA reports. 

The 17-year-old boy, a student at Byrnes High School in Duncan was reportedly overheard saying he would kill his ex-girlfriend, students and some faculty at Byrnes Freshman Academy, making another threat via social media. 

Parents at both schools have received word through the district about the threats.

The student has been removed from school and recommended for expulsion, and also was taken into custody on a detention order from a local magistrate. He is currently undergoing mental evaluation. 

It's not the first time an Upstate student was in hot water for threatening to shoot someone. On Dec. 19, Joseph Bird, 17, allegedly made threats that led to his arrest at Blue Ridge Christian Academy in Landrum.
