Just two days after Davaris McGowens was named the AAA Player of the Year, he hit yet another milestone in the Eastside Eagles' lopsided victory over Seneca High in the second round of the Upper State playoffs.Â
McGowens, a 6-foot-5 forward, poured in 22 points in EHS's 95-62 victory at Eastside High School on Friday. McGowens eclipsed 1,500 career points with the effort.Â
Though sloppy through stretches, the No. 1 Eagles had the game in hand throughout the contest, running up a 16-3 lead early in the first quarter. Only for a brief moment in the second quarter did the Bobcats, led by freshman point guard Xzavier Barmore, trim the lead to the single digits. The Eagles enjoyed a 20-point cushion at halftime.Â
