Winter Weather Makes Brief Stop In Upstate

Snow fell throughout the Upstate as temperatures dropped throughout the day Saturday

Multiple spots throughout the Upstate, from Simpsonville to Easley to Taylors got snow Saturday afternoon.

In Taylors and other spots further north in Greenville County, the snow started around 12:30 p.m. and picked up steam throughout the afternoon.

The National Weather Service said some areas of Taylors and Easley saw up to an inch of snow, while further south in Greenville less than a half-inch fell, and by 4 p.m., any winter precipitation that had fallen in downtown Greenville had already melted away.

Greenville County Schools canceled all of its school-related activities scheduled for Saturday afternoon and evening due to the weather.

Simpsonville and Mauldin saw similar snowfall totals of roughly an inch. Temperatures dropped to the mid  20's overnight in the Upstate, leading the possibility of icing over on some roadways, necessitating an extension of a winter weather advisory in Greenville and Pickens Counties.
