Little League World Series: Sioux Falls Loses To Australia

SIOUX FALLS, SD — After being eliminated from the Little League World series, Sioux Falls, representing the Midwest region, lost to Australia 11-7 in a consolation game.

Sioux Falls was defeated by the Hills Little League team Tuesday at the Howard J. Lamade stadium in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania on ESPN. Live stream the game here. They previously lost to the Southeast team Friday and then to the Northwest team Saturday.

The Sioux Falls offense managed to score seven runs on seven hits and six walks, including a two-run double in the top of the fifth inning from Bennett Dannenbring to temporarily give Sioux Falls a 7-6 lead. Jack Radel singled three times in the game, collecting two RBIs and scoring a run himself. Four Australia batters collected at least two hits in the game, including a bases clearing triple from Harrison Wheeldon in the bottom of the fifth inning to put Australia up by three runs. Wheeldon, who later scored in the inning, ended the day with two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs. Ethan Treble went 3-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Sioux falls pitching struggled to keep Australia off the bases, allowing 12 hits and five walks over five innings.

Australia struck out 11 South Dakota batters and gave up seven hits and six walks.
