Paramedics Plus employee receives prestigious industry award
American Ambulance Association honors paramedic Lorrane Johansen with Stars of Life award

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (June 28, 2017) – Paramedics Plus employee Lorrane Johansen has received the American Ambulance Association’s Stars of Life award, which recognizes ambulance service professionals for outstanding service and dedication.
Johansen is an administrative supervisor with Paramedics Plus, the 911 ambulance transport for the city of Sioux Falls. She was honored with the Stars of Life award for her selfless dedication to her peers and her community.

Since beginning her emergency medical services (EMS) career in Sioux Falls in 1994, she’s managed multiple areas of ambulance operations from scheduling to supplies. She has worked as a paramedic, field training officer, flight paramedic and field supervisor.
Johansen serves as the peer coordinator for the Sioux Empire Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team, which educates, advocates and facilitates the services and support needed for emergency response professionals, organizations, individuals, families and communities.

Johansen has served as Paramedic Plus’ liaison to several rural fire departments in Minnehaha County. In addition to her job with Paramedics Plus, she volunteers as a firefighter and emergency medical technician (EMT) for Valley Springs Fire Department.
Johansen was one of 108 emergency service personnel recognized during the Stars of Life Celebration in Washington, D.C. on June 12-14.
