The EMS provider for the city of Sioux Falls has traditionally provided ambulance transports in Harrisburg and Tea. Paramedics Plus’ management team began planning for the new operation in 2016 as they observed more calls for transport in these cities.
The 24-hour operation is designed for six employees to live inside the facility while the Sioux Falls operation works on a 12-hour shift model. Paramedics and EMTs at the Harrisburg location will work 24-hour shifts, followed by 48 hours off. The 24-hour shift rotation at the new station provides a smarter way to utilize Paramedics Plus’ resources, and offers amenities to employees that are not typically available throughout the work day in these communities.
