Sioux Falls Paramedics Plus employee receives industry award
American Ambulance Association honors Monte Mathews with Stars of Life award
Sioux Falls, S.D. (July 23, 2018) – Paramedics Plus operations supervisor Monte Mathews has received the American Ambulance Association’s Stars of Life award. The award recognizes ambulance service professionals for superior service and dedication.
Mathews was honored for his positive impact on the community, his patients and fellow employees at Paramedics Plus. As one example of his positive impact, Mathews recently oversaw the implementation of a new computer-aided dispatch system that helps crews arrive on scene more efficiently by allowing dispatchers to provide crews with real-time updates on traffic. The new system included new technology for crews use in completing patient reports, and Mathews assisted in training employees on using the system for success and efficiency in the field.
“Monte plays a key role in supporting our crews and keeping our operation running efficiently,” said Michael Bureau, chief operating officer of Paramedics Plus. “We’re proud that the American Ambulance Association has recognized his service to the Sioux Falls community.”

During his 14-year career in emergency medical services (EMS), he worked as a paramedic and firefighter in Iowa and South Dakota before joining Paramedics Plus in Sioux Falls in 2015. In addition to his roles at Paramedics Plus, Mathews also serves as an adjunct for The School of EMS in Sioux Falls.
