Sioux Falls School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Sioux Falls is September 5. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Sioux Falls School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 10/19: High School Early Dismissal (Inservice)
• 10/20: No School
• 10/23: No Elementary or Middle School (Inservice)

November

• 11/3: End of First Quarter
• 11/10: No School (Veterans' Day Observance)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/25 - 12/29: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/2: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/3: Classes Resume
• 1/17 - 1/18: High School Semester Tests
• 1/18: End of Second Quarter
• 1/19: No School for Students (Teacher Work Day)

February

• 2/16: No Elementary or Middle School, High School Early Dismissal (Inservice)
• 2/19 - 2/21: No School (Presidents' Day Break)

March

• 3/23: End of Third Quarter
• 3/29: Elementary and High School Early Dismissal, Middle School Late Start (Inservice)
• 3/30: No School (Spring Break)

April

• 4/2 - 4/3: No School (Spring Break)

May

• 5/28: No School (Memorial Day)
• 5/30 - 5/31: High School Semester Tests
• 5/31: Last Day of School

June

• 6/3: Graduation
