Jet Skier Killed In Cumberland River Collision

A 39-year-old White Bluff woman died after her jet ski collided with a boat near Ashland City July 4.

ASHLAND CITY, TN -- A jet skier died Wednesday in an Independence Day boating crash on the Cumberland River in Cheatham County.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said the 39-year-old White Bluff woman was riding a jet ski when she collided with a boat near the Highway 49 Cumberland River Bridge in Ashland City around 12:30 p.m. The Ashland City Fire Department found the woman unconscious and non-responsive and took her to shore by boat, where the county emergency management agency took her to Centennial Ashland City, where she was pronounced dead.

The woman was wearing a life jacket and the TWRA does not believe alcohol was involved. The agency impounded both vessels for an investigation.
