Tennessee Gas Prices Easing As Gulf Coast Recovers
Gas prices are starting to fall in Tennessee as Gulf of Mexico refineries get back online.

NASHVILLE, TN — Gas prices across Tennessee are starting to come down as areas effected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma recover and more refineries get back online.
“Gas prices are dropping as the situation with refineries, pipelines and gasoline deliveries is positively progressing,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson. “It looks like pump prices will continue on this declining trend into the coming weeks as the regions affected by Irma and Harvey resume normal operations.”

Nationally, there was record demand as Floridians and others in the path of Hurricane Irma fueled up ahead of the storm and AAA expects that the next report from the federal Energy Information Administration will show record demand once again, but demand is expected to drop sharply at the end of September as the summer vacation season wraps up.
Tennessee's statewide average for a gallon of regular was $2.56 Monday, down 4 cents in one week.

The average prices in each of Tennessee's metro area, according to AAA, are:
- Chattanooga: $2.54, down from $2.58 last week
- Clarksville: $2.58, down from $2.62
- Tri-Cities: $2.58, down from $2.62
- Knoxville: $2.56, down from $2.60
- Memphis: $2.47, down from $2.49
- Nashville: $2.63, down from $2.66
