Enroll for 2017: 5 Antioch-South Nashville After School Programs

Learn about different productive post-school programs in South Nashville and see which one is a good fit for your child.

ANTIOCH - SOUTH NASHVILLE, TN - Learning continues outside of the classroom, and the South Nashville area has plenty of programs for students with academic, social and artistic interests to enroll in. Patch compiled a list of after school programs open for enrollment in 2017.

Nashville After School Zones is an after school program funded by the Nashville Public School district. It's designed to give students from lower socio-economic backgrounds to participate in activities that they otherwise would be unable to afford. The 'Surge' program combines academics, performing arts and athletics in a 2 hour group-based environment. You can enroll your child online in the Surge Program. It begins January 7 and runs through April 26.

Rocket Town After School Programs are designed for students in grades 7 - 12 that have an interest in contemporary art forms such as spoken word poetry, music production, visual art, dance, film and more. The program features community leaders who lead workshops in their specific field of expertise, and the students who are enrolled get to create unique and original pieces of their own to showcase. Youth Life Learning Centers is an after school program that combines academic activities with socially enriching group projects. Youth Life allows for kids to develop skills over time through their #Knowledgebank program, which is designed for kids to create long-term relationships with their tutors and program directors. You can enroll your child in a Youth Life Learning after school activity online.

Metro Nashville Public Schools After Care is the post-school program funded by the Metro Nashville Public School district. The program utilizes resources that the school district already has to enhance students academic and athletic performance. You can register your child online and select a program that works for them based on their age, interests and your schedule.

  • When: 2:45 p.m. - 6:10 p.m.
  • Cost: Free

SPARK - United Way is and athletic and academic after school program hosted by United Way Nashville. SPARK stands for Sport-Play-Active-Recreation-for-Kids. In addition to facilitating collaborative athletic activities, SPARK also teaches healthy eating habits with a comprehensive nutrition program. SPARK is designed for kids ages 5 - 14, and you can enroll your child online.
