'Micro Home' Village Planned For South Nashville Church Campus

NASHVILLE, TN — A "village" of 20 so-called microhomes is being planned for a portion of the campus at Glencliff United Methodist Church as part of an effort by a local non-profit to provide bridge housing for people who are homeless.

The homes, which will range from 220 to 400 square feet, will be fully compliant with Metro codes, including running water, kitchens and bathrooms, and will occupy a small section of the church's 6-acre tract at 2901 Glencliff Road.

"Too many of our friends have died on the streets," said Open Table Nashville Executive Director Rev. Ingrid McIntyre, according to The Tennessean. "Hopefully, this place will help lower that number by providing community and programs that will get the most vulnerable into permanent housing."

Open Table, which advocates for affordable housing and last year transitioned 113 people from homelessness into affordable housing, is leading the effort.

The Village at Glencliff will also provide a full-time, on-site care coordinator to assist with the physical and mental health of the residents.
