NASHVILLE, TN -- After nearly four hours and numerous threats, a man barricaded inside a South Nashville apartment surrendered to police, who say they recovered an AK-47 and more than 100 rounds of ammunition.
Forrest Broderick's ex-girlfriend called the police at 7:30 p.m., saying the 35-year-old repeated pinched her arm and bit her on the leg. In the meantime, Broderick returned to his ex-girlfriend's home, from which neighbors allegedly heard a gunshot. After obtaining warrants for domestic assault and reckless endangerment, police sought Broderick at his apartment on Hickoryview Drive.
Broderick wouldn't give himself up and barricaded himself inside, according to police, and made threats including "I'm good at killing cops on Grand Theft Auto."

Officers called in a negotiator but still the man remained inside. At 3 a.m., SWAT units fired flash bangs and the man eventually surrendered about 45 minutes later.
Police said they were cautious because they suspected Broderick might have a rifle or shotgun, so they secured the complex's driveway and evacuated some residents to a nearby store parking lot during the incident.
