Former Spring Hill Woman Charged With Wire Fraud Scheme

Federal prosecutors allege that she diverted more than $120,000 in hearing aid refunds to herself.

NASHVILLE, TN — A former resident of Spring Hill is facing federal charges that she defrauded her employer, a hearing aid company, out of more than $120,000. A grand jury on Thursday indicted Lori Desiere, 45, on seven counts of wire fraud, according to federal prosecutors.

If convicted, Desiere faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count, and other monetary penalties. The case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Tennessee.

The prosecutors allege that from 2011 to 2013, Desiere stole more than $120,000 from her former employer, Connect Hearing, a nationwide network of hearing care centers, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Desiere used her position as the billing and account manager at the company's Brentwood office "to fraudulently process and divert customer refunds to bank accounts under her control," the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.

An indictment is only the beginning of a federal criminal case, not a conviction. The U.S. Attorney's Office did not state when the next court hearing for Desiere will take place.
