Man Murdered Aunt In Brentwood Home: Police

A 29-year-old man is charged with shooting his aunt in the head in a Brentwood home.

BRENTWOOD, TN -- Metro Police arrested a man for robbing and murdering his aunt at her Brentwood home.

A relative found the body of Tivvis Garrison, 47, inside her home on Cobble Drive on the Davidson County side of Brentwood Saturday afternoon. The relative had not heard from Garrison for several days and, worried, went to check on her.

Police immediately deemed the death suspicious and said they were looking for Garrison's Cadillac, which was missing from the driveway.

Just after midnight Sunday, an officer saw the Cadillac on Woodland Street and pulled it over when he realized the tag number matched Garrison's missing car, according to police.

Joshua Gaines, Garrison's 29-year-old nephew, was driving the car and investigators said he had a loaded handgun and his aunt's cell phone. Detectives said Gaines never directly answered questions about his aunt's death and rambled during an interview.
