Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron said Reinking stole the car as he was discussing a test drive with an employee. Brentwood Police briefly chased the car to Concord Road, but called it off due to traffic and speed considerations.
Aaron said the car was later recovered at a Reinking's Antioch apartment complex using the GPD inside the car. Reinking never identified himself to BMW employees and was not arrested.
