5 Pipe Bombs Discovered In Tennessee Home: Police

Kimball Police found five pipe bombs in a home during a probation check.

KIMBALL, TN -- Police discovered five pipe bombs inside a home in Kimball, a small town tucked into a bend of the Tennessee River 30 miles west of Chattanooga, during a probation check.

Officers were conduction a home check on Christopher Owens, who is on probation for theft, when they allegedly discovered the explosive devices plus materials for making more. A woman and a child were home at the time, but a total of eight people lived in the home with Owens, investigators said.

Owens cooperated with police and was taken into custody without incident. A few nearby homes were evacuated at the Chattanooga Police bomb squad came into safely detonate the devices.

Owens is charged with eight counts of reckless endangerment, one for each of the people, and is also charged with kidnapping, felon in possession of a firearm, domestic assault, possession of explosive components, and drug possession.
