2 Officers Injured, 2 Teens Arrested After Carjacking: Police

Two Metro Police officers were hurt during the pursuit of alleged teenage carjackers.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Two Metro Police officers were hurt during the pursuit of two alleged teenage carjackers Monday.

Investigators say that 16-year-old Antonio Lewis and 17-year-old Jason Johns Jr. stole a woman's car at gunpoint outside a Lebanon Pike apartment complex. A police helicopter spotted the stolen Hyundai Elantra on Ben Allen Road where Johns, who was driving, was arrested.

Meanwhile, Lewis and an unidentified female passenger fled in a black Toyota Camry that was allegedly stolen, also at gunpoint, outside a Harding Place apartment complex Sunday night. Lewis and the passenger reportedly bailed out at South Fourth Street and Shelby Avenue. Lewis was arrested after a short pursuit, but his passenger got away. Police say they found a handgun nearby.

During the foot chase of Lewis, Officer Trevin Tolbert's patrol car was accidentally hit. Both Tolbert and his partner, Officer Brenda Navarro, were treated for minor injuries at Skyline Medical Center and released.

Lewis and Johns allegedly admitted to stealing the Elantra and are charged with aggravated robbery.
