Donelson Water Main Project To Snarl Traffic Until 2018
The installation of a new water main brings Lebanon Pike down to one lane even during high-volume traffic periods.

DONELSON, TN — The installation of a new water main in Donelson has been causing delays along Lebanon Pike and Interstate 40 since February, but it's unlikely to get better any time soon as Metro Water Services predicts the project won't be complete until next spring.
There's only one water main in Donelson — from McGavock Pike through to Central Pike. That's a major concern, particularly because a break doesn't just impact homes and business, but Summit Medical Center, so a new main running from Donelson Pike to Elm Hill Pike is under construction.

But crews recently hit a section of rock — a not unusual occurrence in the Nashville Basin — and that's forced a schedule change: crews can only work during daylight hours, MWS spokesperson Sonia Allman told WKRN.
Once they get through the rock, crews will go back to a 24/7 schedule, she said, but still, the project will go on until next spring.
