Drunken Man Put Officer In Headlock: Metro Police
A drunken man tried strangling and punching a Metro policeman who tried arresting him at an East Nashville park, according to an affidavit.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A man drunkenly wandering an East Nashville park after-hours attacked the Metro Police officer who arrested him, according to a police report.
A patrolling Metro officer reportedly spotted Randy Edwards in McFerring Park after closing and when he confronted the man, he smelled alcohol and Edwards began slurring his words, according to an affidavit. The officer spotted a liquor bottle in Edwards' pants and during a subsequent search, found a crack pipe in his pocket, the report says.

Edwards tackled the officer as he prepared to handcuff him, putting the officer in a headlock and taking him to the ground, repeatedly punching and choking him, according to the affidavit.
Eventually, Edwards eased up and allowed the officer to take him into custody.

The officer had cuts and bruises all over his body and swelling to his face.
