DETROIT, MI -- The Hunter's Lane High School marching band is coming home with a top prize from the America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit.
The band won the award for best band performance at the parade, which at 91-years-old is the second-oldest Thanksgiving parade in the country, tied with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Band director William Brooks told NewsChannel 5 he got an email alerting him to his band's award as they were returning to the bus.

“I don't think that we're better than everybody else. I just have a really, really hard-working group of kids, supportive parents, supportive administration,” Brooks told the station. “So I can't ask for much more than that. It's awesome.”
Brooks is a Detroit native and played in the parade as a kid.
