Los Angeles Chargers' King Dunlap, Former Brentwood Academy And Auburn Standout, Arrested In Hermitage
Chargers offensive lineman King Dunlap is charged with violating an order of protection, but his attorney says it's a "misunderstanding."
HERMITAGE, TN — Los Angeles Chargers offensive tackle King Dunlap V was arrested in Hermitage for violating an order of protection Thursday night.
Metro officers were called to the home of Dunlap's girlfriend, who has an order of protection against him. Dunlap, who grew up in Nashville and played high school football at Brentwood Academy before matriculating at Auburn University, was inside the home when officers arrived, according to an affidavit.
Dunlap, 31, allegedly told officers he had received a copy of the no-contact order.

Dunlap's attorney, Worrick Robinson, told WKRN that the whole thing was a "misunderstanding." He said Dunlap was preparing to leave Nashville for San Diego when the girlfriend asked if he needed any of the clothes that were at the home. Dunlap went to the house and neighbors called police when they saw his car in the driveway.
"This event was a misunderstanding between the parties as to what was allowed under the order. They had been discussing a joint resolution. This was not an egregious event, but two parties trying to come to a mutual understanding. Unfortunately a literal reading of the order meant absolutely no contact, and we trust the facts will resolve all issues in a favorable way for Mr. Dunlap," Robinson told the station.

Dunlap was released on a $1,000 bond.
This is not Dunlap's first run-in with the law in Nashville. In 2011, after watching his younger sister play for the Kentucky Wildcats, he drove his Cadillac Escalade onto the plaza at Bridgestone Arena during the SEC women's basketball tournament, telling police he was going to pick up his father, former TSU football star King Dunlap IV, who uses a wheelchair. Police directed the younger Dunlap to a side street and offered to help his father, but Dunlap refused and was arrested and charged with reckless driving and disorderly conduct
After a disappointing senior season at Auburn, Dunlap was drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. He signed with the Chargers in 2013, was named the team's offensive lineman of the year in 2014 and signed a four-year $28 million extension with the team in 2015.
