Nashville St. Jude Rock 'N' Roll Marathon: Getting Around East Nashville On Race Day
Some tips on getting in, around and through East Nashville during the marathon.

EAST NASHVILLE, TN — The 2017 edition of the Nashville St. Jude Rock 'n' Roll Marathon kicks off at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, April 29, and for those Nashvillians who have no intention of travelling the city by foot, road closures are likely to hamstring some plans for most of the day.
In East Nashville, runners will come down Woodland Street, then turn right onto 10th Street. Five Points will be accessible and South 11th and 12th Streets and Woodland east of South 11th will be open.

So what will be closed? All of the following will close at 6 a.m.:
- Woodland from 5th Street to 10th Street and South 10th Street from Woodland to Russell until 1 p.m.
- Russell from South 10th to South 7th will be closed until 1:15 p.m.
- South 7th from Russell to Fatherland and Fatherland between 7th and 5th will be closed until 1:30 p.m.
- Davidson between South 5th and Shelby Park and all park roads inside Shelby Park will be closed until 2:30 p.m.
- South 5th between Woodland and Davidson will be closed until 2:45 p.m.
There will be no parking zones as well, beginning at 10 p.m. Friday:

- Woodland from Union to South 10th Street until 1 p.m. Saturday
- South 10th between Woodland and Russell, the north side of Russell between 10th and 7th, South 7th between Russell and Fatherland, the north side of Fatherland between 7th and 5th, and Davidson between 5th and Shelby Park until 2:30 p.m.
- South 5th between Woodland and Davidson until 2:45 p.m.
Residents affected by no parking zones may park at the East Park Community Center from 6 p.m. Friday until 3 p.m. Saturday.
There will be an eastbound access lane on Woodland between 7th and 9th for access to 715 Woodland apartments and The Turnip Truck. There will be a northbound access land on South 5th from Crutcher to Shelby Avenue eastbound.
Cars can cross the route at Woodland and 6th, Woodland and 9th and 5th and Shelby at the discretion of police officers.
An alternate route to East Nashville during the race:
- Take Spring St/Ellington Pkwy/Exit 47A off of I-24.
- Curve right on exit ramp. Stay right at first fork.
- Get in left lane, which leads to intersection of James Robertson Pkwy/Main Street and 5th
- St/Spring St.
- Turn left onto Main St at traffic light.
- Turn right onto Forrest Ave or continue on Main St.
- For Five Points, turn right onto Forrest Ave, then right onto N 11th St to reach Woodland St.
