Nashville's Christmas Tree To Make Cross-Town Trip Monday

The official Metro Nashville Christmas tree will be cut and moved from Inglewood to Public Square Park Monday morning.

INGLEWOOD, TN — Nashville's official Christmas tree has been found and is ready for re-location from Inglewood to Public Square Park.

The 30-foot Norway Spruce was donated by Donna Jenkins of Inglewood will be transported Monday so it can be decorated in time for the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony scheduled for 6 p.m., Friday, December 1.

Metro Parks and the NES Tree Crews will start the cutting at 8 a.m. with transport scheduled to begin at 11. Parks officials believe it will take approximately 30 minutes to move the tree the five miles from the Jenkins home to Public Square via Gallatin Road and Main Street.

“With the tree scheduled to arrive at 11:30 a.m. at Public Square, we should have plenty of time for installation and decoration. The tree will have between 5,000 and 6,000 LED multicolored lights,” Metro Parks Horticulturalist Randall Lantz said. “We just can’t do this without the help of the public. We have a great city and people love to join in the search."

Metro Parks will plant a replacement tree for the Jenkins family. Jenkins said the trees between two driveways have grown so large that it makes parking difficult.
