Opryland Picks Developer For Prime Property
A Dallas company will develop 130 acres across from Opryland once planned as a water park.

DONELSON, TN -- Ryman Hospitality Properties, owners of the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center, will partner with a Dallas-based company to develop 130 acres across Briley Parkway from the hotel, one of the last large undeveloped tracts in Davidson County.
The company announced a partnership with Lincoln Property Company for a master-planned, mixed-use development expected to include office, multifamily residences, and retail space. The property is at the intersection of McGavock Pike and Pennington Bend Road.
“As the owners of one of the few remaining large tracts of developable commercial land in the Metro area, we see a tremendous opportunity to bring a high-caliber project to Donelson that will be complementary to our existing assets and the surrounding community. We believe this development has the potential to attract a regional or corporate headquarters that will bring additional direct and indirect employment to Donelson. We are also particularly excited about the planned multifamily housing so that people who work in these offices and surrounding businesses have the opportunity to live nearby,” Colin Reed, Ryman's chairman and CEO, said.

The property had been eyed as for a water and snow park in a partnership between Ryman and Dollywood, but those plans fell apart.
Metro Councilman Jeff Syracuse, who represents the area, told The Tennessean he supports the project and is hopeful that, among other things, it will include a grocery store, which the area lacks.

The project, which will be built in phases, is the second big undertaking for Lincoln, who is also partnering with Southwest Venture to develop Nashville Yards at the former LifeWay campus downtown.
