Youth Football Game at Goodpasture Ends In a Brawl

A lopsided score and an ill-timed penalty draw 15 police cars with one man arrested.

MADISON, TN — A youth football game at Goodpasture Christian School Saturday ended in a massive fight as parents from the two teams squared off, first on the field and then in an adjacent parking lot.

The Middle Tennessee Bulldogs were leading the Gallatin Green Wave — both teams are members of the Tennessee Youth Football Alliance and neither has a formal association with Goodpasture — late in the Saturday afternoon game involving teams of 11- and 12-year-olds.

David Gamble, the president of the TYCA, told Fox 17 "there was some aggressive play from Gallatin" leading to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Following the flag, parents from each team stalked towards the sidelines, then came onto the field and a verbal argument escalated into fisticuffs, leading to a brawl than then spilled into a nearby parking lot. Metro Police were called for "a riot" and roughly 15 cars responded.

One person was injured and another arrested. Gamble told the TV station an investigation by the league is on-going.
