Big Brother in Belle Meade? City May Add Surveillance Cameras
City-wide survey asks Belle Meade residents for opinions on boosting security.

BELLE MEADE, TN — Belle Meade may soon be under the watch of the unblinking eye.
A survey from city officials is asking residents for their opinion on installing as many as ten surveillance cameras at key intersections around the city: Lynnwood Boulevard, Belle Meade Boulevard, Jackson Boulevard and Leake Avenue at Harding Road and Tyne Boulevard, Abbott Martin Road and Glen Eden Drive at Lynnwood.
The identified intersections are the primary entry and exit points to the satellite city.

“The purpose is for the safety of the citizens, to acknowledge and recognize automobiles coming through Belle Meade. So if there’s a crime, we can identify the time of the crime and we can then identify a car that is leaving that particular area,” Belle Meade mayor Jim Hunt told WTVF.
About half of the city's residents have already responded to the survey, Hunt said, and the city's commissioners will decide whether to move forward with the surveillance once the results are in. Hunt told the station the project would not result in a tax increase.
