Drunken Driver Assaults Officer: Metro Police

A driver "headed to the Gulch for Chinese food" allegedly assaulted a police officer during a DUI arrest.

NASHVILLE, TN -- An allegedly drunken driver reportedly assaulted a Metro Police officer during an early Tuesday morning traffic stop.

A patrolling officer found a white SUV stopped on the wrong side of the road on Woodlawn Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. The driver allegedly told the officer he was "headed to The Gulch to pick up Chinese food."

There are no Chinese restaurants in The Gulch, though Maneet Chauhan's Tánsuŏ is across Broadway from what is typically considered The Gulch. It closes at 10 p.m.
