Hillsboro High Student Had Loaded Gun, Drugs In Car: Police

An 18-year-old Hillsboro High School senior had a loaded handgun and drugs inside his car in the school's parking lot, according to police.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Metro Police arrested an 18-year-old Hillsboro High School senior after allegedly finding a loaded handgun and an ounce of marijuana inside a car in the school's parking lot.

Edwin Brodnax was arrested Friday, charged with marijuana possession with intent to sell, gun possession during the commission of a felony and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Metro Police said officers investigating a separate drug case saw a digital scale with marijuana residue in the center console of a 2008 Dodge Charger and then discovered a gun in the driver-side door panel. After a search, they found the marijuana in the floorboard.

Brodnax was identified as the person who drove the car on campus, police said.
