Nashville's Brandt Snedeker Drops Out Of British Open

Nashvillian Brandt Snedeker is out of The Open Championships with a hip injury, he announced Wednesday.

SOUTHPORT, ENGLAND, U.K. — Nashvillian Brandt Snedeker will not play in this weekend's British Open, he announced on Twitter Wednesday.

Snedeker, 36, has been nursing a hip injury and said it has not responded to treatment quickly enough for him to compete in The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Snedeker, the 2012 FedEx Cup Champion, finished tied for 22nd at the Open last year. His best finish was a tied for 3rd at Royal Lytham & St. Anne's in 2012, tied for his best-ever finish at a major. He made his Open debut at Birkdale in 2008; he missed the cut that year.
