Popular East Nashville Shop to Relocate to Former Hillsboro Village Bookstore Site

Hey Rooster General Store announced via Instagram it will move into the former home of BookManBookWoman.

NASHVILLE, TN — Popular East Nashville retailer Hey Rooster General Store announced it will be the new tenant in space left vacant by the closure of iconic Hillsboro Village bookstore BookManBookWoman. According to an Instagram post, Hey Rooster will close in East Nashville February 25 and re-open in the Village in early March.

“We are moving into the recently closed and beloved BookWoman side of BookMan BookWoman,” Hey Rooster owner Courtney Webb posted on Instagram. “My shop always looked like it should have neighbors sharing walls and people walking on the street outside. To me, we’re just kinda picking up our little slice of life and placing it down in an environment I always imagined it to be.”

Husband and wife team Larry and Saralee Woods closed BookManBookWoman at the end of 2016. The couple has been looking for a tenant for the former BookWoman space; they did not own the BookMan side.

The Future is Female indeed! My landlord has to be out sooner than expected and the opportunity of a generation turned up in Hillsboro Village. We are moving into the recently closed and beloved BookWoman side of BookMan BookWoman! My shop always looked like it should have neighbors sharing walls and people walking on the street outside. To me, we're just kinda picking up our little slice of life and placing it down in an environment I always imagined it to be. Excited to be with friends we already know @avillageofflowers @arcadenashville @shopnativeandnomad @belcourttheatre @fidonashville @provencebreads and of course!!! @thegrilledcheeserie and @biscuitlovebrunch and @jenisicecreams as well as shops we don't know yet. Hold on tight, last day in East Nash will be Saturday 2/25 and we'll reopen early March at BookWoman. Please come see me and let's get all the ugly cries in over the next few weeks. I have so many feelings about leaving you East Nashville and this is really the only location that had a chance at pulling me away. but also Say thanks to the Woods family for keeping the village local and native! There is still community in Nashville, for real!
