Vanderbilt Rapist Cory Batey Wants New Trial
Cory Batey's attorney argues the judge gave the jury bad instructions and that the convicted rapist should get a new trial.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Former Vanderbilt Universirt football player and convicted rapist Cory Batey wants a new trial.
Batey is more than a year into a 15-year sentence for his role in raping an unconscious woman inside a Vandy dorm in 2013. His attorney, Peter Strianse, said that the judge in Batey's trial gave erroneous, inaccurate jury instructions.
The move is a standard procedure in order to lay the groundwork for future appeals. The Davidson County District Attorney-General's office said that the jury instructions properly established the framework needed to reach a verdict.
