Local East Coast Wings + Grill Donates $1,000 to North Side Elementary School Teacher

Johnson City, Tenn. (August 08, 2017) – The local East Coast Wings + Grill in Johnson City is giving back to the community, more importantly its students and educators, by sponsoring a local classroom. Just in time for the start of the school year, East Coast Wings + Grill is donating $1,000 to a teacher in Johnson City to use for supplies, as well as providing school supplies to each of the students.

At North Side Elementary School on Thursday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m., East Coast Wings + Grill Johnson City will present Sarah Shirley, first grade teacher, and Dr. Pickering, principal, with a donation of $1,000 to use on school supplies for the year. Additionally, each of her 14 students will receive a backpack filled with folders, notebook paper, pencils, glue sticks, and school supply essentials.

“The children in our community and their education are top priority to us and we want to ensure our local teachers and students have the necessary supplies for a successful school year,” stated Bob Feathers, owner of East Coast Wings + Grill in Johnson City. “We are excited to have the opportunity to give back by providing Sarah Shirley with a budget to help stock her classroom for her first year of teaching.”

Additionally, through August 20, East Coast Wings + Grill will also be hosting a school supply drive. Community members are encouraged to visit the location and bring in school supplies such as backpacks, rulers, notepads, pens, binders, etc. to donate. All guests who contribute to the drive will be graciously thanked and awarded with a free basket of East Coast Wings + Grill’s famous homemade chips to begin their dining experience. Toward the end of the month, East Coast Wings + Grill will gather up all donations and bring them to a local school.
