This study is looking to answer this question:

What are the effects of vaping e-cigs compared to smoking regular cigarettes during pregnancy?

This is an observational only study, meaning there are no requests to change your smoking or vaping habits.

You may be eligible if you:

Find out what's happening in Johnson Cityfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

- Are at least 18 years old

- Are currently pregnant

- Are planning to deliver at the ETSU OB/GYN Clinic - Johnson City, TN

AND one of the following:

- Currently smoke cigarettes everyday OR

- Currently use an electronic cigarette or vaping device everyday OR

- Use both products

If you take part in the study, you will be asked to:

- Attend up to 3 visits pre-delivery (pending your due date, approximately 12

weeks apart), each visit is about an hour and compensates $50

- Complete brief monthly calls and one call 3 months after delivery

You may receive financial compensation up to $270 if eligible.

This study examines the effect of e-cigarette use compared to cigarette smoking during pregnancy on toxin exposure (nicotine and other ingredients) in women and newborn babies, and on birth outcomes (birth weight and gestational age).
