Through Community Agency Grants, the City provides funding for both capital and operating purposes to qualifying arts organizations and social service agencies that operate within Knoxville city limits and have been a nonprofit for at least five years.

Priority will be given to proposals that detail the organization’s efforts to contribute to the City’s goals and priorities, including public safety, healthy and connected neighborhoods, sustainability and thriving businesses and good jobs.

“Last year challenged everyone, especially nonprofits,” said Special Projects Manager Jennifer Searle. “The pandemic has emphasized how important it is for our community’s agencies to communicate and collaborate as much as possible to maximize funds and efforts to make a positive impact on residents.”

Applications are accepted in two categories: “Arts and Culture" and “Community and Social Services.” Both forms are available at KnoxvilleTN.gov/citygrants.

Arts and Culture organizations that received funding include museums, fine arts organizations, and groups that present and promote the performing arts and cultural experiences from a variety of heritages and backgrounds. Recipients of funding for Community and Social Services include organizations that support the physical and mental health of city residents. Funding requests for homeless services will be accepted by the Housing and Neighborhood Development office starting Monday, Feb. 1.

All completed and signed applications must be submitted electronically and received by Thursday, February 25, 2021, by 4 p.m. Due to the challenges presented by COVID-19, printed copies of the application will not be required. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
