Life inside of a senior citizen home; DO AS I SAY, DON'T DO AS I DO!
The going on at some, if not all senior citizen homes & institutions would disturb most of us except for those of you who have their Mothers and Fathers put in one of these places. They are put there because their needs{food, clothing and shelter} are taken care of, or are they?
They are put there because their relatives no longer want to change their diapers or spoon feed them baby food or take the responsibility of watching them.
They are kept on a variety on pain and mind controlling medications to maintain peace and order within

these walls. The nursing team keeps everything in control by giving or taking away medications.
They use food to keep control by knowing what the residents like or dislike and nearly half of the served menu food is discarded. If they are served food in their rooms, it is cold and uneatable, but do they complain about it? NO,NO, if they do they will be lucky to get any food at all!!

The staff yells or speak really loud to keep the residents attention. Most of the residents are mostly really passive and not aggressive enough to get what they need and if they press and hold their emergency button they can wait and wait and wait for assistance while an alarm , that most of the staff either ignores or have become deaf to the loud beeping alarms and flashing room lights outside their rooms!
They use social settings to maintain peace. If you're real good you get to participate in most if not all of the activities. They get to collect points that are used in a monthly shopping store that has lots of stuff they can get for their points.
The ones who are unruly or who disrupts the "norms" aren't asked to participate so things will run smoothly.
I know it is a difficult and thankless job and the staff are usually understaffed especially on the weekends, but the staff are trained to ignore the constant cries and whining of the residents here!!
