Irked Maryville Man Dips Genitals In Salsa Over 89-Cent Tip: Cops

MARYVILLE, TN — Many restaurant workers will tell you — don't skimp on the tip. Most don't make a ton of money and often rely on tips to make ends meet. Disgruntled workers have been known to spit in food and even shame low-tippers on the internet. But police in Maryville have an even more cringe-worthy story that takes the proverbial cake.

Officers arrested Howard Matthew "Matt" Webb, 31, of Maryville, on Friday night after an online delivery service contacted them with a horrifying accusation — a 14-second video posted online appeared to show a man, unhappy over an 89-cent tip on a half-hour drive, dipping his testicles into a customer's salsa.

In the video, a man in the passenger seat wearing a salmon-colored T-shirt and red hat takes a white cup filled with red salsa and holds it to his groin area (warning: graphic video). A woman's voice in the background is heard saying, "This is what you get when you give an 89-cents tip for an almost 30-minute drive."

The man in the video then remarks about how good it feels in terms usually reserved for more intimate encounters that probably involve tortilla chips.

The video, posted Thursday on Facebook, appears to be taken from the driver's seat and has been viewed about 49,000 times. The delivery service told The Daily Times the driver, an independent contractor, has since been fired.

Webb reportedly did not work for the delivery service. He now faces a felony charge of adulteration of food, liquids, or pharmaceuticals, and he could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Patch has reached out to the woman who posted the video and Dinner Delivered for comment and will update when we hear back. It wasn't immediately known if Webb has an attorney available for comment.
